Ultrasound in cleaning is different than ultrasound scanning (diagnostic sonograms). Ultrasonic cleaners are comprised of a tank (ideally stainless steel) to which are mounted generator powered ultrasonic transducers. These are designed to vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies (generally above 20,000 cycles per second or 20 kHz). This is above the range of human hearing.
